Agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy. And it is most important of all the economic activities of a man. This inspired a group of researchers from India university, to study a very specific and complex problem of land acquisition by illiterate people of rural areas, in Maharashtra city. Rodrigo Rocha, André Ribeiro and José Congo, students in Telecommunication Engineering and Informatics, together with Bernardo Peixoto, student in Industrial Engineering and Management, have presented a solution to this problem by developing an application assistant for computer illiterate farmers – E-MITRA (“mitra” means “friend”). This application will be a very important and powerful tool in the hands of farmers, facilitating the process of acquiring these farmer documents, thus saving their time.
