Ana Isabel Carvalho has obtained her PhD in Chemical Engineering, in 2009, from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in a joint collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark. She is currently an Associate Professor at IST, in Portugal. She is a researcher in the Centre for Management Studies of IST (CEG-IST). Her research interests are related to sustainability, more specific in sustainable operations management and sustainable supply chains applying Life cycle methodologies in terms of costs, environment and social concerns and Corporate Social Responsibility. She has published more than 40 papers in international journals and proceedings indexed in Web of Knowledge. She has given more than 50 oral presentations at international conferences and invited seminars, namely at the Environmental Protection Agency USA. She has been awarded by several national and international awards, in pedagogical and scientific activities (e.g. Sustainable Engineering Forum Student Paper Award- AIChE, Green Project Awards).
