Henrique Matos is Associate Professor with Habilitation at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), where he graduated in Chemical Engineering, in 1986, having joined the teaching activity at IST in the same year. In April 1993, he completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering at IST. In March 2010, he obtained unanimously the Habilitation at IST / UTL. In scientific terms, his interests are in the field of Process Systems Engineering and Supercritical Fluids Technology. He developed work in Process Integration, Process Dynamic Simulation and Sustainability Analysis of Process. His research work has resulted in 286 publications in scientific articles published in international journals, international conference papers in national journals, articles in Proceedings of national conferences, etc. He participated in 24 Scientific and/or Technological Development projects, supported by Public Institutions or by industrial companies. He has already supervised or co- supervised twelve PhD thesis. He is currently the supervisor of three PhD theses and co-supervisor of one more. He is a member of the CAPE Working Party of EFCE – European Chemical Engineering Federation, since 2001 representing Portugal by delegation of the Portuguese Engineers Association. Having in his scope co-organized in Lisbon (Portugal) the International Congress called ESCAPE 14. He was vice-President of CERENA- Centro de Recursos Naturais e Ambiente from 2013 to 2016. From 2017 onwards, he is currently the Vice-President of Chemical Eng. Dept. and Director of the Chemical Engineering Integrated Master.
